A more reliable way to run BMP tests
AMPTS® III is a fully integrated system for anaerobic batch fermentation testing. It helps laboratories determine biochemical methane potential, follow degradation profiles and compare substrates, pre-treatments, inoculum activity or inhibition effects under controlled conditions.
The system supports BMP testing workflows based on VDI 4630 and combines glass reactors, mechanical agitation, CO₂ absorption, gas volume measurement and browser based software in one platform. Sampling, analysis, recording and report generation are handled in the same workflow, reducing manual readings and fragmented data handling.

Aurora™ Software inlcuded
Aurora™ is the experiment software included with AMPTS® III. It is accessed through a web browser and gives users a clear way to set up tests, follow gas production, store data and export results without installing software on an external computer.
With local data storage and remote access, laboratories can follow long running anaerobic batch tests from the lab, office or another location.
- Experiment setup in the browser
- Real time gas production monitoring
- Local data storage on the instrument
- Spreadsheet export for further analysis
- Remote access from computer, tablet or smartphone
Choose the configuration that suits your workflow

Choose your incubation setup
AMPTS® III can be used with either a thermostatic water bath or BPC® Air, depending on your laboratory setup, test duration and preferred incubation method.
BPC® Air
BPC® Air is an air based incubation unit for BPC respirometer systems, including AMPTS® III. It provides both cooling and heating from 10 to 60 °C and can be configured for aerobic and anaerobic workflows.
By using air as the heating and cooling medium, BPC® Air removes the need for water refills during operation. Its floor standing design with wheels also makes it easier to position and move in the laboratory.
Thermostatic water bath
The thermostatic water bath is the traditional incubation setup for AMPTS® III workflows. It provides water based temperature control and remains a suitable option for laboratories that already work with this type of configuration or prefer water based incubation.
The AMPTS systems are more than just data generators; they are reliable tools that have significantly contributed to our research. The user-friendly operation and high level of automation make them stand out among the methods we use for BMP determination in our lab, which include mainly manual methods. Their reliability is unmatched, making them the most popular choice for our research.

Common questions about AMPTS® III
What is AMPTS® III used for?
AMPTS® III is used for automated anaerobic batch fermentation testing. Typical applications include BMP testing, SMA assays, residual gas potential analysis, inhibition studies, biogas potential and anaerobic biodegradability testing.
What is the difference between AMPTS® III and AMPTS® III Light?
AMPTS® III has 18 reactor channels, while AMPTS® III Light has 9 reactor channels. Both systems are designed for the same anaerobic batch fermentation applications, but the Light version is suited for lower sample throughput.
Can AMPTS® III measure both biomethane and total biogas?
Yes. AMPTS® III can measure accumulated biomethane when the CO₂ absorption unit is used. Without the CO₂ absorption unit, the system can be used to measure total biogas.
Does AMPTS® III require an external computer?
No. AMPTS® III has an embedded server and local data storage. Aurora™ software is accessed through a web browser, so no software installation on an external computer is required.
Which gases can AMPTS® III measure?
AMPTS® III is used for non-aggressive gases such as methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and nitrogen, depending on the experimental setup.
Can AMPTS® III be used for residual gas potential testing?
Yes. AMPTS® III can be used for residual gas potential analysis, including tests where low gas production is measured over longer incubation periods.
Can several AMPTS® systems be used together?
Yes. Multiple AMPTS® systems can utilised to increase analytical capacity, however each system is operated as a standalone unit with its own access, software and data storage.
