What is a™respiometer system?

A respirometer system measures gas production or gas consumption from biological activity under controlled laboratory conditions. The data can show how microorganisms, substrates, materials or process conditions behave over time.

BPC respirometer systems automate this measurement across applications such as biogas, biodegradability, wastewater treatment, nutrition and biohydrogen. Instead of relying on manual readings, users can follow gas volume, gas flow and process behaviour with structured data throughout the test period.

Where respirometer systems add value

Research

Use respirometer systems to study biological processes under controlled laboratory conditions. Automated gas measurement helps researchers follow microbial activity, degradation behaviour and gas production over time across biogas, biodegradability, wastewater, nutrition and related fields.

Process optimisation

Compare substrates, materials, inocula or operating conditions before moving to larger scale testing. Respirometry can help evaluate how changes in temperature, loading, treatment method or sample composition affect biological activity and gas production.

Biodegradation studies

Follow how materials break down under defined aerobic or anaerobic conditions. BPC respirometer systems support biodegradability and compostability workflows where oxygen consumption or gas production is used to evaluate degradation behaviour.

Application development

Build and refine laboratory methods for new materials, feedstocks, biological processes or test conditions. BPC systems give laboratories a flexible measurement platform for developing and validating application specific workflows.

Method and quality control

Use automated measurement to create more consistent test routines, reduce manual readings and improve comparability between samples, controls and replicates. This is useful for laboratories that need structured data and repeatable workflows.
